Our community garden continues to grow and expand this year. The municipality was fortunate to receive funding through both the LiveWell Community Catalyst Grant from HealthPEI, as well as the Island Community Food Security Program from the Department of Agriculture and the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. Our new greenhouse features a farm stand-inspired alcove where fresh produce can be picked up for free. There is also a mud kitchen for children on-site. Soon, the greenhouse will also be home to a “Seed Library” (for sharing seeds!), some cedar bird houses, and some fall plantings to extend our growing season. Market carts were stained and repurposed as seed starting shelving.
Please feel free to pop by the garden to have a look around, and sign our guestbook.
